The birth of the Greek-Israeli band

It all began 7 years ago when Tomer Katz went on an ordinary vacation in Greece, to relax, to forget his troubles in Israel and to seek a new path in life. It didn't take long until he discovered Rebetiko music (Greek blues) and was immediately captivated by it...........Recently, the band was featured in a Greek TV show(World musicians/Leonidas Antonopoulos) about the love for Greek music in Israel and their appearance attracted much attention, both in Greece and in Israel. One of the band's most exciting experiences was their meeting and subsequent collaboration with the famous Greek poet and journalist Manolis Rasoulis, who came to hear them and dedicated a song to them.

Although the band has begun to perform on bigger stages, all of its members know that no matter how big the stage, it can never compare to the intimacy and unique atmosphere of the Ha'usha club.

Amir Benayoun is a young sephardic-israeli singer.Yehuda Poliker was born in Haifa, Israel 1950),is an Israeli musician of Greek ancestry. His music combines rock with Greek and other Mediterranean musical styles. He plays guitar, bouzouki, and baglama. He was a member of the popular 1980s Israeli rock group Benzeen (also spelled Benzin).

Poliker's father, Zoko, was a Holocaust survivor from Salonica, Greece. His story is told in the 1988 film Because of That War (Biglal Hamilhamah Hahi) which features music by Yehuda Poliker.

Shkëlzen Doli / violin (Αλβανός βιρτουόζος)

Shkëlzen Doli was born in Elbasan ,Albania,later he moved to Gjakova,Kosovo.In 1980 he began to play violin. From 1987 up to 1991 he studied at the music school in Novi Sad with Evgenia Chougaeva as a teacher. In 1989 he won the first prize at the (ex-) Yugoslavian youth music contest in Sarajevo. In 1992 he started his music studies at "Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst" in Vienna. Since 1995 he plays with the Wiener Symphoniker.He also plays accordion and has made a collaboration with Ruth Yaakov sephardic ensemble.

The composition,which was used in the TV advertisement entitled 'GIZDAVA' (conceited woman), is a vocal-instrumental arrangement of the folk song from Prekmurje(North-east Slovenian dialect): 'Ne orji, ne sejaj' (Don't Plough, don't Sow) μην οργώνεις,μη σπέρνεις; it has been recorded in the five-beat rhythm, which is one of the most archaic preserved rhythms in the Slovenian and also European territory.The lyrics sing about a girl who is as 'cute' and 'pretty' as a flower and, at the same time, conceited.(ματαιόδοξη,περήφανη,φαντασμένη) Why is she so?
