Happy New Year!..Happy Diwali!..Kiran and Deepak!

Kiran Desai becomes the youngest woman Booker prizewinner with her novel "The Inheritance of Loss".Desai touches upon many different issues throughout the book such as, globalisation, multiculturalism, inequality and the different forms of love.It took her seven years to complete and Desai used her own experiences of being an Indian living in the United States to help write the novel. The action focuses on the lives of Jemubhai Popatlal, a retired Cambridge-educated judge living in Kalimpong, his orphaned granddaughter, Sai, who moves to live with him and his cook. When a Nepalese insurgency disturbs the region, Jemubhai becomes vulnerable because of his hunting rifles. The revolution also threatens the blossoming relationship between 16-year-old Sai and her Nepalese tutor, Gyan.(BBC) "It certainly draws from my own experiences of being an immigrant and moving from India to England and later to the United States. But it automatically led to other stories as well. Stories from the past and previous generations poured into my imagination and I re-created them in the novel"(IBNlive.com)This prize-event coincided with the the biggest hindu celebration "Diwali" or festival of Lights, symbolizes the victory of good-light over dark-evil.I was informed about from my blogfriend Deepak Gobi the Great (who wants to become an actor) So I dedicate to him the below video-song "Diwali Anthem" by JK Krew. The 'Krew' were formed in May 2006 by Jay Kumar, a leading Choreographer specialising in Bollywood and Bhangra Dance Styles.Bravo Kumar!Congratulations India! Shubh Deepavali!

Diwali is an annual stimulus for the Indian economy. Indians purchase gold, gifts, decorations, crackers (fireworks) and household appliances during this festival and many Indian films (Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood, etc.) are released during this period.

On the day of Diwali, many wear new clothes, share sweets and snacks and light firecrackers. The North Indian business community usually starts their financial new year on Diwali and new account books are opened on this day.

Companies offer huge discounts during the Diwali season to attract customers, which helps the economy and also helps the poor. Food distributed as acts of charity during community festivities also helps the underprivileged. Diwali also brings tourists to the country.

Schools in India are closed during this festival, and many young people have the free time and the money to spend on luxury items. Also, people buy new clothes to wear during diwali.

Unity in Diversity and the Search for the Inner Light.

@Deepak

Aapakaa bahut bahut dhanyavaad Dost

You must be filled of inner light
:)

Central to Hindu philosophy, is the assertion that there is something beyond the physical body and mind which is pure, infinite, and eternal, called the Atman. Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Deepavali is the celebration of this Inner Light, in particular the knowing of which outshines all darkness (removes all obstacles and dispels all ignorance), awakening the individual to ones true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With the realization of the Atman, comes universal compassion, love, and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings Ananda (Inner Joy or Peace).
to rejoice in the Inner Light (Atman) or the underlying reality of all things (Brahman).

Diwali is also celebrated by
other religions like Sikhism and Jainism.

Those days Ramadan
finishes and Muslims
say Eid Mubarak!...

A phrase of greetings said among Muslims to congratulate each other on holidays. It literally means, "Blessed Festival!" The appropriate answer is, "Allah yubarak feek!" (May Allah bless it for you also!)

Eid Mubarak

Hello Ergotelina!!!I miss reading your blog and all those opinions it gathers. But it's too demanding for me now.I don't have much time.I'm still catching up on lost work due to that virus.I said the same to Free Cyprus.Your blogs are great but it's not easy to read (and think!!) in english. And it makes me think and wonder. And it makes me feel stupid and misinformed too! That's good because I sick more information!:-)
So these days I answer some comments in my blg and that's it!!But I hope to get more time once I finish my present work.

The poster with Ana Moreira is so funny!Teresa Villaverde is one of our most important new directors. She made a gret movie called Os mutantes. Her movies are about population social condition and characters are often deep and problematic. In Transe where Ana Moreira stars- it's new movie that oppened this October- she deals with violence, emigration, sex exploitation.Ana Moreira is a russian girl hat leaves her house and ends up in Portugal.I did not see it yet. I live in a small city it has a multiplex that shows american cinema first, portuguese second.Unless it's a portuguese movie with lots of sex...because it will sell tickets, ehehehh!!!

Holeart blogspot invited me to do some circles for his blog. It has some pretty nice circles.I enjouyed making it because I dealed with a message and left character making aside.

Bye-bye!
