People are quite encouraged to learn foreign languages. I'm soon going to be in university in a program of political science. I do have the odd feeling that I'm going to be forced to learn [a] foreign language(s). After all, I'm already struggling to learn Spanish, but it's not as tough as it looks.

By the way, here's the answer to your question about pharmacies on one of my blog entries.

I don't know what are the American labour laws concerning pharmacies, but I really doubt that there are differences between them and that of Canada.

In Canada, the term "profession" (in French or in English) usually refers to jobs that require an university degree. To answer to your question, in the USA and Canada, some jobs in pharmacies are opened for young students (who are in high school or above) such as cashiers and clerks (working for the delivery or in a store's alleys, for instance). However, if one wants to work as a pharmacist, one must have an university degree in pharmacology.

i am struggling with higher level Greek...keep reading newspapers, books but there always seems to be a point where they fail me...the fact that most users around me of higher level Greek also do incredible mistakes is not at the least encouraging, it is rather a shame....so i easily retrieve, when writing, in english/greek and, when speaking, in greek/kozanitika, found to be efficient but yes I think it is a sign of eh eh ekfulismos

Personally, I love Hebrew and Arabic.

Remember, there are many flavours of Chinese, like Mandarin and Cantonese and even "Shanghainese"

Put English on that list since that's the one language that everyone, regardless of race, religion, nationality, ethnic group wants to learn.

Hello Ergotelina!!Today I reached 100 posts/collages!!:-)

One of my 2007 resolutions will be learning spanish AT LAST!!I think it will be easy because spanish has a lot in common with portuguese.( But Spanish people find Portuguese language very difficult!!!!)I hope to have the time for that.I am still in the hard process of learing graphic computer skills.So I am a bit scared of so much to learn at one time!Foreign languages allways interested me. I can' pratice my english so I lost a lot of vocabulary.Now it's esier to speak. A few years ago I wrote better english than I do today.Same but worst happened with french.Today I speak french if I'm tortured!!!I hardly can write. But I inderstand it and read it.It's good to know english when we travel.But when I was in Turkey most people did not speak a word of it!!So I made a lot of gesture!!!!!:-)I would like to learn japanese...dream on!!!

Spanish? :-) Good choice..
The estimated population of Spaniards in Canada is about 213,105, and they are concentrated areas of Spanish people in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal.

Ιn non-libertarian economies
it is usual "closed professions"
to exist.(from father to son)
(notaries public,pharmacists)
Even if one has academic degree
he is not allowed to work as a free
professional but now in Europe
all the professions seem to be open
for everbody who meets the standards.

Kolik jazyků znáš, tolikrát jsi člověkem.

Kolik=The more
jazyk=language
znáš=you speak
tolikrat = so many times
jsi=you are
člověk=human

You live a new life for every new language you speak.
or...
If you know only one language, you live only once.
